Luckett & Farley provided master planning and design services for a 48,664 SF surgical center addition to the Taylor Regional Hospital. The building is designed to appear as a separate facility from the hospital to help ease patients' anxiety. This hospitality focus on the patient allows for individual pre- and post-op rooms that become the patient’s “home base.” Their family wait in these rooms for their loved one to return from the procedure.
The third floor operating rooms are supported on a steel frame designed to reduce building vibrations allowing for the use of microscopes up to 100x magnification. A series of Vulcan valves allow for the building’s rooms to be set back when not in use providing considerable energy savings.
The surgical center is equipped with five operating rooms, a cysto room, two gastro/endo suites, and 21 pre-op/post-op patient rooms, in addition to a separate PACU, a sterile processing area, diagnostic imaging suites, and all of the support areas typically required by such a facility.
