The project is a comprehensive renovation of the hangar facility, including complete replacement of the building envelope, repair of hangar doors, repair/replacement of deteriorated structural components, structural upgrades to meet current building codes and ATFP requirements, reconfiguration of interior administrative and maintenance areas, complete replacement of interior building finishes and environmental support systems, and replacement of fire protection systems.
Our team performed site investigations documenting existing facility conditions, met with stakeholder representatives, and conducted design charrettes and reviews at pre-established milestones to ensure the users', USACE's, and AFRC's requirements were met.
The Luckett & Farley team provided all services in-house except fire protection engineering which was provided by a sub-consultant. We used Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the development of the project documentation to enhance design coordination and documentation with our design-build partner, key subcontractors, as well as architects, interior designers, engineers, and planners from USACE and AFRC.
The design for the renovated facility meets requisites of applicable DoD UFC, including UFC 4-211-01, Aircraft Maintenance Hangars and underlying criteria. The project was designed to comply with the Government's High Performance Sustainable Building (HPSB) requirements.
